While we remain at home to keep safe, lots of us have been looking at home-based businesses. This has extended to charitable fundraising. Charity fairs and sponsored events have all been cancelled or postponed, leaving people wondering what they can do to raise money for their favourite charities.
Here we explore some fundraising ideas that can be done either within your bubbles, or completely at home.
Sponsored Walk or Run
Channel your inner Captain Sir Tom and ask your friends and family to sponsor a walk. You can set up your fundraiser page on something like Just Giving so you don’t have to take any cash from anyone and the money all goes directly to the charity.
If you want to step it up a little and do a running challenge, there are some companies where you can do a virtual race. With a company like Virtual Runner you can even get a medal for your efforts.
Prize Draw
Have a little raffle and use one or two of your own handmade items as prizes. Charging people £1-3 for each number, and with a modest amount of numbers (around 20-30 would work well) you could raise anything from £20 to £90. Deduct the cost of the prize(s) and the rest can be donated to charity. Type “random number generator” into Google and you can pick a winner!
Drinks night
If you and your friends used to go out for drinks every now and then, how about getting them all together on a Zoom call and donate the money you would have spent to a charity. You could throw in a quiz if you wanted to make it a bit more fun.
